Duplex Water-Sealed Liquid Ring Priming Systems
Q-VAC duplex priming systems with water-sealed liquid ring vacuum pumps are a great choice for priming applications that require the lowest possible maintenance, long-term durability, and the security of redundancy. Since two vacuum pumps operate together during initial priming, smaller vacuum pumps can be selected without sacrificing performance, but to maximize efficiency after the initial prime, only one vacuum pump runs during normal operation to restore system vacuum. Not only does this reduce power consumption and operating costs, it also reduces the runtime on each vacuum pump to extend maintenance intervals and maximize life.
This robust vacuum pump technology has been used successfully for both clean water and wastewater applications, however, it is especially well suited for wastewater projects or outdoor installations in warmer climates. Standard sizes are offered up to 15 HP, but significantly larger sizes are available. Water sealed liquid ring vacuum pumps are rated up to 29” HgV, although they are typically operated at lower vacuum levels to prevent cavitation. PLC controls are standard to provide increased safety, enhanced features, and the most reliable operation. Finally, to ensure that neither vacuum pump becomes damaged due to non-use, the controls are designed to operate each vacuum pump in a lead-lag fashion and automatically alternate duty to balance the run hours.
In order to consider a water-sealed liquid ring priming system, you must be able to supply a suitable water source and drain for when each vacuum pump is running. If a continuous supply of seal water is not available, but liquid ring technology is still preferred, Q-VAC offers closed-loop, air-cooled, liquid ring priming systems using either water or oil as the seal fluid.
